Who are we?

Pilgrim Baptist Church Green Team is a dedicated group of activists located in the East Central Neighborhood, 46803. In 2019 we set a short-term goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030. As a community, we have a responsibility to act on the research and insights from our local government. Our climate action plan will build on our past progress and use the State to confront the difficult questions posed by climate change and test promising new solutions that move Indiana and the world. Toward a fossil fuel-free future

How did we start?

The group began in the spring of 2019, with a group of five individuals interested in moving the needle in their own backyard. The PBC Green Team is currently focused on educating others through presentations and being a convening space for other community groups and movements in the area. We aggressively advocate for climate and sustainability policies and practices.

What do we do?

We are committed to building a more just and equitable world, one where all choices are heard and respected regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, or physical ability. We recognize that a diverse and inclusive movement is critical to solving the climate crisis. And that to build this winning coalition, we must ensure that those directly impacted, particularly those who have been excluded in the past, are at the center of the movement for change. While the climate crisis, marginalized groups represent frontline communities, who experience harmful climate impacts first and worst. To live our values of a truly sustainable future for all, we must commit to understanding and undoing the historical injustices which contribute to this reality and, in our solutions, address systemic inequities.
